Why Carpool?

RIDE Solutions Beats the Devil
Transportation, although a necessity, has a negative impact on the environment. The two greatest concerns are centered on energy conservation and air pollution. Since there is not an unlimited supply of oil for gas, we must all do our part to conserve energy. Conserving will also help us become less dependent on foreign oil. Due to the ever-increasing number of single occupancy vehicles (SOVs) on the road, our air is being polluted by harmful vehicle emissions. Ridesharing will help to solve both of these environmental problems. By carpooling, vanpooling, using transit, walking, or biking to work we will use less energy and pollute less. Won't you do your part to help?

Carpooling is the easiest and most common form of ridesharing. Carpooling is when two or more commuters ride together in a private automobile on a continuing basis. Carpools can be arranged in one of the following ways:
  • One person may drive all the time, while the passengers contribute only to the cost (gas, parking).
  • Participants may alternate driving and not exchange money.
  • The carpool driver may pick up passengers at their homes, or they may meet at a central location. Park and ride lots exist for this purpose. View a list and map of regional park and ride lots.
How do I Find Fellow Carpoolers?
If you're worried that no one's going your way, check our Commuter Map to see the origin of every carpooler in our database. RIDE Solutions has made finding carpool partners easy. We maintain a database of people who are interested in carpooling, as well as information on their origin and destination points, their work schedule, and preference for driving, riding, or alternating.

By gathering all this information, we can easily match people who can ride together. Apply now, and we'll contact you with a match. You can then contact the person or person(s) and make arrangements to meet and discuss carpooling options such as pick up points, time, etc. Carpool participants make up the rules together, so that everyone can reap the benefits.
