RIDE Solutions welcome the Salem Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center as its newest Workplace partner. It joins a growing number of regional employers – including Virginia Tech, Shenandoah Life, Hollins University, Lewis Gale Medical Center, and many others – who recognize the benefits of alternative transportation.

RIDE Solutions, the regional carpool-matching and commuter assistance service, announces a greatly expanded resource for drivers in the Roanoke and New River Valleys looking to reduce their commuting expenses.

Clean Commute Day has this year been scheduled in conjuction with national Bike to Work Week. In recognition, RIDE Solutions offers free bike racks to local businesses and other organizations to support bicycle commuting.

Clean Commute Day has been schedule for May 18, 2007. The event will encourage area commuters to "Commute Clean on May 18" by taking the Clean Commute Pledge online. The Regional Commission will host a series of events and presentations at their offices in downtown Roanoke.

The RIDE Solutions Workplace program provides a way for area businesses and other organizations to create successful alternative transportation programs for their employees. By encouraging employees to carpool, use public transit, bicycle and walk to work, employers can reduce traffic and parking congestion around their worksites and play an active role in improving air quality and quality of life in the community.

Partering with the New River Valley Planning District Commission, RIDE Solutions will now be able to serve commuters in the New River Valley region.
