Guaranteed Ride Home
Let RIDE Solutions help you save time and money by connecting you to your commuting options with carpool matching and our free Guaranteed Ride Home benefit. Never worry about being stuck without a ride, missing the bus, or being caught in a storm with nothing but your bicycle helmet to keep the rain off. Simply call one of our partner service providers, tell them you're a RIDE Solutions member, and present your Guaranteed Ride Home voucher when the taxi arrives. RIDE Solutions will cover the rest. Even better, since Roanoke City Public Schools is a RIDE Solutions Workplace partner, you may use an unlimited number of vouchers each year.

RIDE Solutions uses a proccess called corridor matching to help you find a carpool partner, connecting you to other commuter's routes via park-and-rides and other meeting locations. Park-and-rides can also connect you to transit options such as the Smart Way bus.
The Star Line Trolley offers free trolley service between the Crystal Spring Village and Downtown Market, with stops along Jefferson St. RCPS employees of Crystal Spring Elementary, Hurt Park Elementary or Downtown Administration who live along the South Roanoke to Downtown Corridor should consider the Star Line as a commute option.
The Greeenway network throughout the Valley provides a comfortable, safe, off-road bicycle or walking commute option. RCPS destinations that connect to the greenways include:
Valley Metro offers bus service within the City of Roanoke with connecting service from the New River Valley via the Smart Way Bus. Patrick Henry and William Fleming each feature art bus stops designed by RCPS students.
The Smart Way Bus connects the Roanoke and New River Valleys. Riders of the Smart Way can transfer to Valley Metro buses in Roanoke for free.
Bike and walk along the Roanoke Valley's many trails and bicycle accommodations. Visit Bike Roanoke for a regional bike accommodations map and Bike to Work routes vetted by the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club
